  • About Michelle

Michelle Monroe was born in San Diego, California on September 25th and at the age of 1 her family moved back to Germany. When she was only 16 years old Michelle left school and returned to the states, where she eventually married. She and her husband worked to build a construction company that eventually grew into a multi-million dollar corporation. After 16 years she decided to leave the construction business and pursue her dream of becoming a designer.

During the time that Michelle was working with her husband she was also designing jewelry pieces and designing the interior for her house. Monroe's first foray in fashion was a jewelry line in 1987. Plans for that quickly collapsed after she realized she didn't have the money to go ahead with production. In the early 2000s, one of her three sons linked her up with Jennifer Kaufman, whose store in the Beverly Hills area often was featured in InStyle magazine as a place to find unique things seen on celebrities. Known for her Hollywood ties, Kaufman introduced Monroe to stylists from 20th Century Fox Studios. That led to one of Monroe's necklaces being featured on Sarah Michelle Gellar, star of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Shortly after, Christina Aguilera bought one of her belts. Michelle was so inspired and confident in her designs that she decided to finally build her own company. She began as "Belts That Rock" by Michelle Monroe, which were Swarovski encrusted belts that she ran with until about five years ago. She is now focusing on handbags as well as continuing her jewelry designs. She is now known as MICHELLE MONROE.

Michelle Monroe is taking her creations to the next level and is striving to put herself ahead of her competitors. Michelle Monroe creations are known for being innovative, alluring, glamorous, edgy and stunning.
